Carmen Silva was born July 16, 1935 in Rockdale one of 12 children to Feliciano L. and Manuela (Reyes) Zapata. She was a life long resident of Rockdale. Carmen was educated at La Escuelita School in Rockdale and was very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
On February 12, 1955, she and Esekiel "Zeke" Silva were married in Milano. To this union seven children were born.
Carmen passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at her home in Rockdale, reaching the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her husband Zeke on April 8, 2006. Their infant son, Michael Henry Silva. Her parents and two brothers, Nehi Zapata and Simon Zapata.
Surviving, her son, Fred Silva and wife Maureen of Round Rock. 5 daughters, Rose Rivera and husband Steve of Dallas, Olivia Parker and husband Sheldon of Austin, Becky Hinojosa and husband Raudel of Austin, Lydia Torres and husband David of Bertram, Elena Olmos and husband Victor of Dallas. 7 brothers, John Zapata, Nat Zapata and wife Marie, Steve Zapata and wife Mary, Victor Zapata, Eppie Zapata all of Rockdale, Nick Zapata and wife Terry of Arkansas, Butch Zapata and wife Lucy of San Antonio. 2 sisters, Molley Montelongo and husband Sonny and Adelia Lerma of Rockdale. 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Mass for Juan Zapata, 83 of Rockdale will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2012 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Mr. Zapata will be cremated.
Visitation 4PM to 9PM with a Rosary at 7PM Sunday, April 1st, at the funeral home.
Juan Zapata was born November 24, 1928 in Rockdale, one of 14 children of Feliciano L. and Manuela (Reyes) Zapata. He has lived all of his life in Rockdale.
On November 15, 1959, he and Juaquina Mireles were married in Rockdale. He was a mechanic for H.H. Coffield and Koehler's Garage in Rockdale. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus #7014 and president of La Escuelita in Rockdale over 32 years. He was the longtime caretaker at St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale.
Juan passed away Thursday morning, March 29th, in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by his wife Juaquina on June 23, 1992. His parents and five siblings, Nehi, Carmen, Simon, Daniel and Pablo.
Surviving; three sons, Ernest Zapata of Austin, Robert Zapata and Pat Zapata both of Rockdale. Three daughters, Johnnie Diaz and husband Frank, Sr. of Rockdale, Julie Smith and husband Jim of Rockdale and Patsy Zapata of Rockdale. Six brothers, Nat Zapata of Rockdale, Butch Zapata of San Antonio, Nick Zapata of Arkansas, Eppie Zapata of Rockdale, Steve Zapata of Rockdale and Victor Zapata of Rockdale. Two sisters, Dee Lerma and Molly Montelongo both of Rockdale. Five grandchildren, Linda Montelongo and husband Jose, Frank Diaz, Jr., Jamie Whitmire and husband Shane, Art Zapata and J.W. Smith all of Rockdale. 6 great grandchildren, Timothy Montelongo, Kina Montelongo, Jadyn Whitmire, Braeleigh Whitmire and Kyleigh Diaz.

Epifanio "Eppie" Zapata
Epifanio “Eppie” Zapata, age 71 of Rockdale passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 in the Winnie L. Nursing Home in Cameron. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Ramon Frayna will officiate. Visitation is 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
Epifanio “Eppie” Zapata, one of 15 children of Feliciano and Manuela (Reyes) Zapata was born April 7, 1944 in Rockdale. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, receiving National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960, one o/s Bar, and Expert (M-14). After his honorable discharge, he worked as a Landscaper for Milam County and the Temple V.A. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of Rockdale Knights of Columbus. He loved playing music, and started the group “Little Eppie and the Latin Five.” He was the lead singer and played the Saxophone.
Eppie was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carmen Silva; seven brothers, Nehi Zapata, Simon Zapata, Juan Zapata, Victor Zapata and three infant brothers.
Survivors, two sons, Phelipe Zapata and wife Norma Jean of Belton, Vecente Zapata and fiancé Gisela Colahan of Moody; one granddaughter, Liana Amaya Zapata of Belton; four brothers, Steve Zapata and wife Mary of Rockdale, Nick Zapata and wife Terry of Arkansas, Nat Zapata and wife Marie of Rockdale, Butch Zapata and wife Lucy of San Antonio; two sisters, Amelia Montelongo and husband Sonny of Rockdale, Adelia Lerma of Rockdale.
Serving as pallbearers are Lorenzo Zapata, Mike Zapata, Sr., Maurillio Zapata, Jr., Marcos Zapata, Diego Montelongo and Nick Montelongo.
