Funeral services for Carmen M. Yeager, 86, were held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 10, 1997 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in  Rockdale with graveside services at 4 P.M. in Centerville Cemetery in Centerville.  Rev. Doug Baker of St. John's United Methodist  Church officiated.

Mrs. Yeager died Sunday, June 8 in Richards Memorial Hospital.  She was a Rockdale resident since 1953.

She was born May 30, 1911 at Guy's Store, Texas in Leon County to Patrick Leo and Erin Virginia (Thomason) Moore.  She worked as  a first grade teacher at Rockdale Elementary for 37 years and also gave private piano lessons during that time.  She married Jim  Rice Yeager on Aug. 25, 1932 in Jewitt, Texas.

She was an active member of the educational and musical life of Rockdale for 44 years, serving the Rockdale Music Club and earning  a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos.  She was a life-time   member of Kappa Delta Pi, a nations teachers' organization.  She retired from RISD after 23 years of service.

Mrs. Yeager was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Yeager on Aug. 13, 1963; two brothers, Harold Thomason Moore and Leo  Lester Moore; and a sister, Bessye Virginia Hardison.

She is survived by four nieces, Judi Hardison of Rockdale, Erin Moomey of Centerville, Bettie Jean Stewart of Huntsville and Leslie  Ann Ray of Missouri City, Texas; a nephew, Dr. Harold R. Moore of Fairfield; 12 grand nieces and nephews and 7 great grand nieces  and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tommy Moore, Brent Moore, Wendall Stewart, Lynn Spikes, Michael Ray, Randy Eller, Miles Rucker and Lee  Thomason.  Honorary pallbearers were all former students.
