STILES, Edith of Thorndale. Age 83. Died 7/1/1990 (Sunday) in Johns Community Hospital. Services held at Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial in Pleasant Retreat Cemetery. She was BORN 9/6/1906 in Shiloh the daughter of Julian & Clifford Smith Jordan. A lifelong resident of the area and was a school teacher in the Rockdale ISD for 41 years.
Member of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church and Milam Co. Teacher's Asso.
Her husband, Dean Stiles, Sr., preceded her in death in 1983. Also preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Virginia Stiles of Thorndale; son, Dean Stiles of San Antonio; granddaughter, Scarlett Stiles of San Antonio; 5 sisters, Lena Currey of Malakoff, Bertha Smith of Thorndale, Birtie Edwards of Lake Isabel, CA., Elsie Melovitch of Tempa, FL., Margaret Vone of CA.
Taylor - Funeral services for Edith Stiles, 83, of Thorndale, were held at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 5, in Condra Memorial Chapel with  burial in Pleasant Retreat Methodist Cemetery.

Rev. Bill Fulton officiated.

Mrs. Stiles died Sunday, July 1 at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor.

She was born Sept. 6, 1906, in the Shiloh community to Julian and Clifford (Smith) Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Stiles, Sr., in 1983; also by a sister and three brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Stiles of Thorndale; a son, Dean Stiles of San Antonio; five sisters, Lena Currey of Malakoff,  Bertha Smith of Thorndale, Birtie Edwards of Lake Isabel, California, Else Melovitch of Tampe, Florida, and Margaret Vone of  California.

Mrs. Stiles was a teacher in the Rockdale School District for 41 years and was a member of the Milam County Teachers Association.

She was a member of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church.
