Funeral services for Georgia Evelyn Keister "Gigi" Dyer were held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996 at First Baptist Church with  burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.  Rev. Morris Cook officiated.

Mrs. Dyer died Sunday, Oct. 6, in Rockdale after a brief illness.  She was a long-time Rockdale resident.

She was born Feb. 29, 1916 in Fairview to Solon Henry and Iva Haddox Keister.  She was a graduate of Floresville High School,  Mary-Hardin Baylor College and Southwest Texas State College.  She taught school for 38 years beginning in Swift, Labatt and  then retiring in Rockdale in 1984.  She substituted for a number of years after retirement.  During World War II, Mrs. Dyer was  employed as an airplane engine inspector at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio.

She and the late Wendell Dyer were married in Floresville on March 6, 1943.  They lived in Floresville, San Antonio and Austin  before moving to Rockdale in February of 1952.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church  where she taught Sunday School and was also Sunday School Director.  She was  also director of the Senior Adult Program.   She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas Retired Teachers Association, the  Young at Heart, Who's Who of American Educators, Jolly Elders and life member of the Texas State Teachers Associaton.

Mrs. Dyer is survived by three daughters, Wenda Jo Dyer of Austin, Sharon Shoemake and husband John of Grandbury, and Judy  Sivadon and husband Tod of Marble Falls; four grandchildren, Kelly Lane Shoemake, Kirby Ceph Shoemake, Tracy Lane Sivadon and  Reagan Dyer Sivadon; and two sisters, Majorie Taylor and husband Lloyd of Seguin, Dorothy Villa and husband Frank of Butte Falls,  Oregon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wilhelm Backhaus, Eldon Ball, Charles Holder, Jay Phillipus, Walter Pond and Don Roddam.  Honoray pallbearers  were the Deacons of First Baptist Church and the Ladies of Young at Heart.
