Funeral services for Mrs Ida Jo Marshall, 79, were held Tuesday at 4:00 PM in the Phillips and Luckey Chapel with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. 

Rev Kenneth Flora and Rev Alice L. Williams officiated.

Mrs Marshall died Monday at Rockdale Nursing Home after a long illness.  She lived in Rockdale at the time of her death.

Mrs Marshall was born March 15, 1903 in Milam County in the New Salem community.  Her parents were Mr and Mrs Jeff (Maggie Ann Driggers Hillin) Davis.  She was a teacher and librarian in the Rockdale schools for 53 years. 

She married E. V. Marshall on November 26, 1928.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; and two sisters, Mrs Frances Stork and Mrs Ella Luckey.

Survivors include one brother, J. W. Hillin of Rye; six sisters, Mrs Beulah Schneebeli, Mrs Ludie Skinner, and Mrs Mae Lovelace, all of Rockdale, Mr Thelma Weatherford of Dallas, Mrs Alice L. Williams of Lyons, and Mrs Marie Buetow of Danbury.

Pall bearers were E. L. Williams Jr., Earl Schneebeli, Wayne Skinner, Billy Buetow, Ben Earl Williams, and Larry Buetow.

Honorary Pall bearers were Henry Nelson, J. M. Moorman, Zeke Alford Sr., Dr. John Richards, and Harvey Luckey.

Mrs Marshall was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

During her teaching career, Mrs Marshall was a member of the Texas History Survey Commission, Friends of the Library, Southwestern Texas Library Association, Texas Teachers Association, Southwest Historical Society,  and the South Milam County History and Genealogy Society.

In addition to teaching in the Rockdale schools, Mrs Marshall also taught in many area schools.  Among these were schools in Cameron, Hicks, Davilla, Caldwell, and Tanglewood.  In 1942 Mrs Marshall helped organize the public library in Rockdale.
