Funeral services for John E. (J.E.) White were held at 2:30 PM Saturday, November 7, in the Phillips and Luckey Chapel with burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Rev Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Chapel officiated.

Mr White died Friday morning, Nov 6, in Richards Memorial Hospital.  He had resided in Rockdale from 1954–1966 and again from 1973  until his death.

He was born August 21, 1912, in Huntsville to Mr and Mrs John Eldredge (Flora Wyche) White Sr.

He had a long career in education as an administrator, teacher and coach.  He was a teacher for 35 years.  Mr White was also a rancher.

Mr White and Connie Davis were married September 7, 1934 in Huntsville.  She preceded him in death, after 49 years of marriage, on March 6, 1984.

Mr White and Amy Wagner were married April 18, 1990, in Cameron.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Davis White, Nov 2, 1950; a sister, Flora Dean; and a great grandson, Jerith Joe Hobson, July 9, 1992.

Survivors include his wife Amy White of Rockdale; a son and daughter–in–law Gene and Glenna Dittmar White of Roanoke(TX), three daughters and sons–in–law, Dorothy and Glenn Wise of Universal City, Flo and Wiley Courtney of Richwood, and Lou and William Thomas Thweatt of The Hague, Netherlands; four brothers, Marion R. White of Hockley, Wilbur White of Moore, Oklahoma, Lloyd White of Lockhart, and Carrol White of Freeport; also eight grandchildren.

Pall bearers were Carroll Wise, Stanley Garrison, John Fischer, Dan Scurlock, Paul Jenkins, Zeke Silva, and Jerry Hobson.

Mr White received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Sam Houston State University.

He served in the National Guard 141st Infantry.  His hobbies included education, cattle and reading.
