Funeral Services for Mrs. Jewel Williams, 71, were scheduled for 3 P.M. Wednesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel with  burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Revs. Donald Box and Hubert Yount were to officiate.

Mrs. Williams died at 4:30 A.M. Wednesday in Richards Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months.  She was a Rockdale  resident.

She was born Oct. 28, 1919 in Milam County to Mr. and Mrs. Brant Smitherman. 

Mrs. Williams was a school teacher for many years in the Rockdale Public Schools.

She and Weldon H. Williams were married in Thorndale on Dec. 23, 1939.

Survivors include her husband, Weldon H. Williams of Rockdale; three brothers, L. B. Smitherman of Calvert, E. S. Smitherman of  St. Louis, Mo. and Eugene Smitherman of Cameron; six sisters, Mrs. Hubert Young of Lufkin, Mrs. Florene Ellis of Austin, Mrs. J. R.  Woodall of Calvert, Mrs. James C. Bouldin of Austin, Mrs. Willie Kuzel of Houston, and Mrs. Isaac Satterwhite of Houston.

Pall bearers were to be Leonard Allen, Jimmie Doss, H. K. Pete Clark, Bill Cooke, Albert Timmerman Jr., Eugene Hairston, Curtis  Caffey, and Curtis Foster.

Mrs. Williams was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
