Dr. John Pruett and wife Brenda for a program presented to the club at the Milano Senior Citizen Center on Thursday.
Dr. Pruett is a graduate of Rockdale High School and obtained a PhD in immunology from Texas A&M University.
The Pruetts, both retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, grow blueberries at their home in the Cedar Creek Community.

Harold Pruett
(October 9, 1922 - May 9, 2013)

Harold Pruett was born October 9, 1922 in Rockdale to John L. and Lottie Lucille (Yoakum) Pruett. After he graduated from Rockdale High School, he entered the U.S. Army. While in the service, he attended electronic school. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged from the army as a Corporal.

Harold and Frances Jane Drehr were married on March 8, 1946 in Cameron. Two children were born to complete their family. Harold spent 39 years as a retail and wholesale drugstore merchant; at Duke’s, Perry’s and Skrivanek’s from 1946 to 1968. He then worked at Behren’s Wholesale in Austin from 1968 to 1984.

Harold passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving family; his wife of 67 years, Frances Pruett of Rockdale; son, John Harold Pruett, Jr. and wife Brenda of Milano; daughter, Belinda Shipp and husband Roger of Austin; sisters, Wanda Edelmon of Rockdale, Laverne Voight of Houston and Evelyn Romoser of Houston; five grandchildren, Barrett Brannam, Kenneth Shipp, Kevin Shipp, Jenny Jackson and Lindsay Vieth; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Brannam, Sidney Brannam, Elle Brannam, Kylie Jackson, Jake Jackson, Cat Jackson, Ellie Vieth, Ariana Shipp and KJ Shipp.

Memorial services for Frances Jane “Cricket” Pruett, 87 are pending at this time.

Frances Jane “Cricket” Pruett was born December 10, 1926 in Milano to Emitt J. and Mildred (Nichols) Drehr. She was a graduate of Milano High School. On March 8, 1946 she and John Harold Pruett were married in Cameron. She lived most of her life in Rockdale and the past eight months in Round Rock. Cricket worked as a shipping clerk at Skrivanek’s Drug Store in Rockdale and Behren’s Drug Store in Austin from 1968 to 1984. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She was a member of Rockdale V.F.W. Auxiliary and was an accomplished seamstress.

Cricket passed away Sunday, January 9, 2014 in the San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center in Round Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Pruett on May 9, 2013; her parents’ two brothers, James Drehr and Bill Drehr and sister, Doris Elliote.

Surviving are her son, John Harold Pruett and wife Brenda of Milano and daughter, Belinda Shipp and husband Roger of Austin. Five grandchildren, Barrett Brannam, Kenneth Shipp, Kevin Shipp, Jenny Jackson and Lindsay Vieth. Ten great grandchildren, Jordan, Sidney and Elle Brannam, Kylie, Jake and Colt Jackson, Ellie Vieth, Ariana and K.J. Shipp and Blake Shipp.
