Graveside services for Tommie Lee Summers will be 12 Noon Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale. Minister O.E. Davidson will officiate.
Visitation will be 8AM to 11AM Thursday at Phillips & Luckey prior to the graveside service.
Tommie Lee Summers was born April 1, 1926 in Locksburg, Arkansas to Manuel and Rillie (Walker) Stewart. On November 24, 1943, she and James "Sam" Summers were married in Richmond, Texas. She was a homemaker, a member of Milam County Church of Christ and enjoyed antiques and baking.
Tommie passed away Monday night, October 8th, in the Renaissance Villa in Rockdale, reaching the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam on August 16, 2011, her parents and a brother, Billy Stewart.
Surviving are her son, James Summers and wife Miranda of Caldwell. Daughter, Judy Sales of Rockdale. Brother, Charles Stewart of Houston. Sister, Jean Hairston of Lampasas. Grandson, Travis Sales and wife Genny of Mesquite. Great grandson, Bruce Eric Sales and wife Leah of Mesquite.

James "Sam" Summers
(November 17, 1925 - March 16, 2011)
James "Sam" Summers was born November 17, 1925 in Houston, Texas and was the son of William Burton and Birdie Lee (Harris) Summers.
James was raised in Milano then moved to Houston where he inlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during WW II. After his service he moved to Rockdale and started to work for The Rockdale Reporter and worked at the Reporter for 64 years as a printer. He and Tommie Lee Stewart were married on November 24, 1943 in Richmond, Texas. He is a member of the Milam County Church of Christ. He enjoyed 42, flying his control line planes, hunting and fishing.
James passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Scott & White Hospital in Temple. He reached the age of 85 years, 3 months and 29 days.
He is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Horance Lawrence (Monk) Summers, Willis Burton (Bill) Summers, Earl Summers, Robert L. Summers, Ralph Summers, Sr., and Emmett Summers. Sister, Laura Louise Story. Son-in-law, Gary Sales. Parents, William Burton and Birdie Lee Summers.
Surviving his Wife, Tommie Summers of Rockdale. Son, James Summers and his wife Miranda of Caldwell. Daughter, Judy Sales of Rockdale. Grandchild, Travis Sales and wife Genny of Mesquite, Texas. Great Grandchild, Bruce Eric Sales of Mesquite.
Services will be graveside at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Sandy Creek Cemetery between Rockdale and Milano. Visitation will be Saturday 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
