Sammy J. Claiborn was born October 10, 1928 in Galveston, Texas to Samuel and Thelma (Malrey) Houston.
She and Bobby Fred Claiborn were married in Freeport in 1951. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
They have lived in Rockdale different times since 1957. Sammy was a tax appraiser for the City of Rockdale, retiring in 1995.
Sammy passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 in the Richards Memorial Hospital, reaching the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mike Houston.
Surviving; Her husband Bob Claiborn of Rockdale. Son Robert Claiborn. Daughter, Linda Cokemore of Liberty and a grandchild.
Private services were held.
