The Norman C. Malechek Scholarship–Given by Mrs. Loween Malechek Maxwell in memory of her late husband to establish annual scholarships for needy and worthy students in the humanities.
Norman Cornelius Malechek, 64, died at 6:05 A.M.in a Temple hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 P.M. at the Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale with the Rev. J. Stewart Bell , Pastor of St. John's Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Malechek had been a resident of Rockdale for 25 years. He was born Sept. 23, 1904 in Bartlett, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malechek. He was a school teacher by profession and he and Miss Loween Lewis, of Rockdale, were married in 1942 in San Antonio.
Mr Malechek earlier had visited his mother, Mrs. Anna Cornelius Malechek, in a Taylor hospital. Ironically his mother died at 10 A.M. Monday in the Taylor hospital just four hours after her son died.
Survivors include his wife, of Rockdale, and a sister, Mrs. Erwin Raeke of Bartlett.
Pall Bearers were Louis Rinn, H. H. Hill, James Scott, Joe Pelzel, Grady Williams, and L. C. Mehaffey.
