Funeral services for N. E. “Zeke” Alford Jr., 75, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at First Baptist Church of Rockdale.
Private burial will be at a later date.
Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church officiated.
Mr. Alford died Monday, June 27, in an Austin hospital.
He was a lifelong Rockdale resident and was born July 17, 1929, in Rockdale to the late Nathaniel Ezekiel “Zeke” and Bess Cecile (Clark) Alford.
From 1956 to 1990 he was a math teacher at Rockdale Junior-High School and had recently been a math teacher at Temple College in Taylor.
Mr. Alford was a member of First Baptist Church.
He graduated Rockdale High School in 1946, earned a bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University in 1950, and a bachelor of divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 1955.
Mr. Alford also did additional graduate work at the University of Texas at Austin.
He was an ordained Baptist minister, a photographer, ham radio operator (5KHYS) and had a commercial pilot license.
Mr. Alford was preceded in death by a grandchild, Maci Love Dolat.
Survivors include two daughters and spouses, Kelli Hilton and husband Jesse of Thorndale; and Staci Dolat and husband Jason of Pipersville, Pennsylvania; also, three grandchildren, Hunter Shea Hilton, Bailee Sierra Hilton and Joshua Jon Dolat.
Pallbearers were Bill Cooke, Weldon Alford, Clifford Sims, Tom Guthrie, Bill Scurlock, Ernest Hoffmeyer, Charles Holder and Tommy Newton.
